LQ™-P Series
and LQ™ Series
Does the world need another plastic powered speaker?
It does when Crest-quality power amplifiers complete
with our CGL™ technology are inside. It does when
you hear how good these three active speaker models
sound.
Sometimes less is more.
Crest LQ-P Series active speakers let you reduce the
size of a mobile system to its bare essentials without
compromising sonic quality. Consider the system diagram
shown at right. It’s a complete 24-input, stereo
PA rig in just three components.
That’s because the power amplifiers, electronic
crossovers and a lot of other electronics are built
right in to the LQ-P speakers. Of course, we suggest
adding a CPS-1203 Spectrum Enhancement System and probably
a CPL-1288 Compressor/Limiter/Expander for lead and
back-up vocal channels... but you get the point. LQ
active speakers take a lot of the load out of load-in.
Packed with Crest technology.
Each LQ-P active speaker contains two power amplifiers
specially designed for their transducers as well as
built-in phase accurate electronic crossover, time compensation,
parametric equalization and protection circuitry.
Cooled by massive rear-panel heat exchangers, these
amps are connected to professional-grade woofers with
oversize voice coils and to our highly-regarded HF™
titanium-diaphragm compression drivers with ferrofluid
voice coil cooling.
The 2-inch HF used in the LQ-15P/LQ-15 employs our
patented Radialinear Planar Phase Correction System
that extends and smoothes frequency response.
Midrange/treble output from the driver is channeled
through our patented Quadratic Throat Horn™ design
which provides ultra-low distortion coupled with well-controlled
dispersion pattern and lower distortion than many other
CD horn geometries.
Loaded with extras.
Besides signal pass-through connections for daisy-chaining
speakers, LQ-P models have an additional output that’s
placed after the rear-panel level control knob. This
lets you control volume for multiple LQ-Ps from the
first speaker’s level knob. There’s also
a direct-to-amp input that lets you bypass internal
crossover circuity, for running the speaker as part
of a multi-way system.
The LQ-15P even includes its own mic preamp
for the ultimate lean, mean public address system (one
microphone, one LQ-P and they’ll hear you in the
next county).
All molded enclosures are not created equal.
It takes an incredible monetary investment to do an
injection-molded speaker right. It has to be shaped
trapezoidally to capture and suppress internal resonances.
And it requires complex internal bracing built right
into the mold to minimize external resonance. Crest
spent the money. Many others have not. We think that
you will hear the difference when you audition any of
the LQ active or passive models at your Crest Performance
dealer.
And if you already have your own amplifiers we offer
the same ten-, twelve- and fifteen-inch LQ Series models
without internal amplification. Each uses the same high-quality
transducers, Quadratic Throat Horn™ and includes
EQ contour control, Dynamic Protection System and bi-amping
capability.
Either way you go, your audience will hear the Crest
Performance difference. |
